Parish Life

The Epiphany Parish Life Committee ministers to the everyday needs of our people, supports family and community life through social activities and cares for the health and wellness of individuals. We celebrate significant events, enrich and strengthen the overall sense of community in our parish, and call forth the gifts of parishioners as we bring the Epiphany community together. Parishioners will find special support in a variety of like-to-like ministries for: separated, divorced or widowed; youth; elders; singles; men; and employment seekers.

Happy 4th of July!

All of us here at the Church of the Epiphany wish you a happy and safe 4th of July
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Celebrates 100th Anniversary

For those of you who were founding or early members of Epiphany, you remember that we entered into a covenant relationship with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church here in Anchorage on April 19, 1977. A similar covenant was established between Epiphany and Anchorage Presbyterian in the mid ‘80’s. It is our common faith in Jesus Christ through which we acknowledge each other. These three churches formally adopted a tri-church covenant on May 31, 1987 and affirmed it on June 3, 2001. Although the ecumenical movement has shifted in the past two decades, our three communities continue to pray for one another, to work together through the Eastern Area Community Ministries (EACM) to care for the poor and needy. The leadership of the three churches gathers together every other month for a light lunch and conversation.

Hats off to Epiphany on our 38th Birthday!

It was Sunday, June 7, 2009.

The day was sunny and warm. Some might say “hot”.  Paper cupcakes with greetings from parishioners were posted in the gathering area.

Tents providing shade scattered the hillside in the “circular drive” and behind the community center where one could go to get their face painted or create a “box of love” to be given to our sick and homebound.

Many other activities were offered.

Loaves and Fishes – Epiphany Style

The Community Café aka Community Bucket Café opens this Sunday, May 3rd between the 9:00 and 11:30 liturgies. Stewardship Committee members (along with spouses and friends) will cheerfully serve you your choice of regular or decaf coffee and offer you a variety of teas.

What does that have to do with the gospel story of the loaves and fish? “Plenty!” We want to offer food to those who come. But to have plenty, we need you to bring something to share. Who knows, we may have more than enough and thus are able to share with others after the café closes!

This will be a good opportunity to pick up a “cuppa joe” and brag about your winning horse. Or groan about your betting choices. See you Sunday on the apron of the worship center (the concrete walk around the church) about 10:15 or so!
