The Confirmation class was able to share the gift of reading in a big and bold way. Thanks to all of you who donated, we collected over 3,100 children's books, to share with the elementary school children of Mill Creek Leadership Academy off Dixie Highway in Shively and other local charities.
On March 15, the Confirmation class each took a Community Leader to this magnet school to read to the children, and then helped each child to choose a gift of books for their own personal library. There were great prizes and so much love to go around.

As you clean and clear clutter for 2013, we are looking for your help. If you have any new or used Children’s Books for Elementary School children (K-5th) and would like to share them with local children who do not have the privilege of owning their own books, we will collect them at weekend liturgies from now until Jan. 27.

When the Furtado brothers first visited Epiphany, at ages 10 and 11, they were asked to carry up gifts at offertory. The young men were most appreciative of the honor and the welcome inclusion into the liturgy. Since that initial visit, they and their parents have joined the parish, developed a special appreciation for the community, and found unique ways to bestow their gifts and talents upon Epiphany.
Active in Boy Scouts, Winston and Wilfred, set their sights upon achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. In order to accomplish this, they worked with their leaders at Troop 321, each earning a minimum of 21 merit badges, demonstrating proficiency in areas ranging from first aid to citizenship to environmental science. As one aspect of the requirements for Eagle Scout, young men must perform a community project. Both Winston and Wilfred wished to perform such service at Epiphany.

Appalachia Mission Trip
In June, 28 members of Epiphany and Youth Group spent a week in Auxier, KY working with Hand In Hand helping in housing and community projects. Tasks ranged from installing to metal roof, putting in new windows, plumbing, insulation, carpeting, drywalling, painting, framing, gardening, to water testing. While the group spent the day either on a hot roof, un-air conditioned room, or under a trailer, they spent the evenings swimming, singing karaoke, and playing in the park across from the center.
