Our community celebrates about 75 large-scale liturgies a year and each one needs to have a detailed, written plan for the celebration which provides for all aspects of the celebration, from text for the Call to Worship, to musical selections, to art work, dance and floor plan. All community members are invited to join in seasonal planning for Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter. Volunteers are also invited to prepare for the liturgies of Ordinary Time. Experienced planners are available to work with those new to liturgy planning. The plans are completed for distribution to ministers who will carry them out in our worshipping community. Most volunteers plan two to six liturgies a year.

Easter preparations: If you can stay to help move chairs and platforms and begin Easter preparations after our Good Friday Evening Prayer, that would be wonderful and greatly appreciated! Clean-up and preparation of grounds and Worship Space continue on Saturday morning, April 3. We hope you can join us – many hands make light work!

Good Friday’s evening service includes a time of prostration – laying down – before the cross of Christ. We’re extending an invitation for community members (any age able to lay on the floor quietly for a short period of time) to join in this visible sign of our reverence. If you’d like to take part in the prostration, please contact Linda (245 9733 x15) by Wednesday, March 31. You will need to get some simple directions before the service. The evening service will invite us to consider the events of the passion and death of Jesus through the eyes of Mary Magdalen who was faithfully present through it all.

Holy Thursday: On this night we remember in a special way the act of love that Jesus requested us to do in His memory—loving service, as in the washing of feet. Please come ready to have your feet washed (if you desire), and to wash the feet of other community members in imitation of the love of Jesus celebrated at this liturgy. During the foot washing we will see images of community members doing acts of service and hear the acts of compassion the community has been sharing. We also remember how Jesus celebrated the Last Supper, and we wish to imitate His loving kindness by bringing a loaf of bread (or other food items) to be given to the hungry of our local area. Please join us in this special collection at the 7:00 PM Liturgy. Any type of bread is acceptable. (If you prefer another option, you may bring other food or monetary contributions.)

Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion starts off our Holy Week on March 27-28. For the procession at each liturgy we need 25-35 people to carry the symbols (purple cloth, crown of thorns, nails, pitcher & basin, and sacred oils) and contemporary images of suffering (which will be affixed to a cross in the worship space). We are also in need of additional "dancers. " Men, women and children old enough to walk and follow directions are all welcome to participate. There is one rehearsal, Saturday morning March 27 at 9:30 (symbol carriers, at least one of a family group) or 10:00 (dancers). If you or your family is interested in participating, please contact Linda by email or phone (245 9733 x15).
