Bibletimes Marketplace is a carefully thought-out curriculum of six cycles taught in sequence for six summers. This year, we are in cycle “D”, titled, Voices In Exile – “Sing Unto the Lord a New Song!” We learn about the Israelites and the Babylonian exile. We are introduced to Ezekiel, a special person known as a “new prophet.” We talk about Jonah and his interesting travels to Nineveh, as well as Job and his incredible trials. We also learn about Daniel who was chosen to live in a palace, and about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and their miracle in the fiery furnace. Finally, we learn about brave Esther, who helped save the lives of many Jews.

First Grade donates gifts and Quilt to EACM

First Grade QuiltOn January 31, 2010 the First Grade Formation class celebrated a baby shower complete with games, cards, gifts, cake and punch. The celebration is an annual service project by the first graders to collect much needed diapers and baby wipes for various organizations. This year's collection will be donated to EACM .

As part of the morning's fun, games are played to guess if the baby will be a boy or girl and then to develop a truly stunning, and alphabetical, name for the little one. A quilt block is designed and drawn by each child. The blocks are sewn together to make a cozy quilt for the new baby.

The quilt, along with the diapers, wipes and lots of handmade greeting cards will be donated to EACM the first week of March.

6th Grade Formation Class Social Justice Project

This year your 6th graders decided to take on the F.O.C.A. bill, that President Obama said he would sign if it is passed. F.O.C.A. is the “Freedom of Choice Act” bill that would allow government, our government, to fund and regulate the facilities and staff that perform abortions.

The 6th grade class presented their side of the issue on April 19. They have been researching since December. We had a good turn-out of parishioners to hear their persentations.

If you are interested in following the progress of this bill, go to www.fightfoca.com. There, you will be able to find all the information pending and what has happened. There is an on-line petition that you can sign as well. The 6th graders also have red envelopes that are empty, addressed to President Obama, expressing our feelings against abortion. We ask that you pick one up and put you return address on it and mail it. The envelopes will be available for a short time in the Gathering Area.

Family/Children's Formation

Parish Family Formation is a program involving all age levels. The belief is that religious education is a life-long, on-going process. We witness to God in such a way that children as well as adults can grasp the central place of faith in their lives.

Family Formation programs teach that this faith expresses itself in worship, in loving and in living Gospel values in individual families as well as the larger parish family.

Safe Environment Workshop. Adults who will be working with children (under 18) on a regular basis (more than once), need to fill out a youth leader request form AND have attended an Archdiocesan Safe Environment Workshop. Contact Barb Herzog for details.
