Garden and Grounds Care

Grounds care and upkeep has become a "major" project in recent years. Due to the aging of our landscape, along with hurricane damage and major ice storms, keeping up with 20 acres requires the help of many volunteers. In addition to 2 regularly scheduled cleanup days, one on Holy Saturday and one in early November, other work days are frequently scheduled to address the storm damage and decline. Preservation of the peaceful and prayerful natural environment of our grounds is a priority of the Administration/Finance committee.

Annual Fall Grounds Clean-up set for Saturday November 21

Mark Your Calendar: Annual Fall Grounds Clean-up, Saturday November 21, 8:30 AM-2:30 PM.

We are looking for new volunteers to join our faithful crew that come out each year to beautify and prepare our grounds for the winter. If you’ve never been to Epiphany’s grounds cleanup, give it a try this year. You’re sure to meet new friends and enjoy catching up with old friends. We'll begin with coffee and donuts about 8:30 and break for lunch about noon.

Please bring your rakes, leaf blowers, gloves, chain saws and help with this major grounds effort.

Pickup trucks are particularly needed. If you have one that you could offer for use that day, please call Martha Stuber, 245-9733.

Epiphany grounds "Adopt-A-Plot"

Did you know that for many years, one of the time and talent opportunities available under Administration is "Adopt-a-Plot"?

It's an opportunity for an individual, family or group to care for a specific area on Epiphany’s grounds.  Eileen and Bruce Schweinhart have been caring for the perennial gardens in front of Epiphany House for 20 years.  Their children have grown up understanding the importance of everyone doing their part for the benefit of all.  Many thanks to the entire Schweinhart family!

Right now we have a number of areas where regular maintenance is much needed.  If you can help, call Bob Overberg: 502-244-8385.

Ice storm grounds cleanup help needed!

Saturday, March 21 is the day.  Gather around 8:30 A.M. for coffee and donuts.  Then the work begins.  Trees, limbs, trunks, both large and small, are waiting to be loaded into the dumpsters.  Bring your gloves, chain saws, wheelbarrows and loppers.  Many volunteers will be needed to transfer the storm debris into the dumpsters.  We’ll break for lunch and continue into the early afternoon.
