Please take some quality time to read each bio and ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in electing three of these nominees on the weekend of May 14 and 15.

Epiphany membership:

Having been a life-long Catholic who moved frequently during college, I found a church home at Epiphany in October 2001.  Since joining I have been active in many activities including the Parish Life Committee, the Future of Hope Campaign, Softball and CLOUT.  My primary focus has been on planning Parish Life events.  I served as a member at large for one year and as committee co-chair for two years.  As committee chair I have been privileged to serve on Parish Pastoral Council.  My experience on Council over the past two years led me to my decision to run for an elected position this year.

PPC Announces Agenda Change for February Meeting

PPCChuck Sgro, Parish Pastoral Council Chairperson, has announced a change to the format, content, and purpose of the upcoming PPC/Epiphany Staff gathering on February 25, 2010.

The annual Parish Pastoral Council and Epiphany Staff “Working Retreat” that was scheduled for Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30 was canceled due to threatening Weather Advisories.

The PPC Executive Committee, which includes the various elected Members and our Pastor, Fr. Jeff Nicolas and Pastoral Associate, Mary Gowern, csj has decided to devote the entire February meeting to the Retreat format and thus not conduct the normal monthly meeting.

Barring any further weather difficulties, we anticipate returning to our normal meeting, time, and format on March 25, 2010. Anyone wishing to be heard during the Community Forum portion of a PPC Meeting or simply wanting to be present during a meeting is asked to plan to come to the March 25, 2010 Meeting.

We appreciate your cooperation.

Parish Welcomes seminarian Adam Carrico

Greetings Everyone,

My name is Adam Carrico and as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Louisville I will be spending my summer assigned to Epiphany to learn both from Fr. Jeff and all the good things happening here. I have completed my first year at Saint Meinrad School of Theology and I am looking forward to finishing up the two year philosophy program next year and afterwards moving into the four year theology program. My time at seminary has been equally challenging and rewarding but I have enjoyed my time there and have learned a lot about myself and my calling to the priesthood.

To tell you a little bit about myself and where I have been, I grew up at Saint Aloysius Parish in Pewee Valley and went to grade school there as well. After that I went to high school at Saint Xavier and college at the University of Louisville where I earned a Bachelors Degree of Arts in History.

Sharon Bidwell

I became a part of the Epiphany community when I joined the staff in August 2005 as the Social Responsibility Minister. Through that ministry, I was able to work with dozens of community members on a multitude of life-giving and energizing outreach ministries. Since joining the staff at JustFaith Ministries, I have continued to share my gifts with the community by co-facilitating the JustFaith program for two years.

I became a Catholic in the middle of completing a master’s degree in theology at the University of Dayton. In my studies at this Catholic university, I discovered a faith tradition that was rich in wisdom and one that preached a Gospel of loving and caring for the least of our brothers and sisters. I fell in love with the wide variety of spiritual practices that Catholicism has to offer, and I continue to be inspired by the witness of Catholics around the world.

Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is an advisory body to the pastor.  The PPC consists of elected and appointed members of the community, who, along with the chairs of our seven standing committees and representatives from our high school youth, set policy in union with the pastor and act as a responsible agent in the leadership and management of the community.

Through collaboration and consensus, members make definite well thought out decisions about specific issues  concerning the community.  Members commit to be respectful of and open to the insights, beliefs and opinions of other PPC members and the community at large.
