Remembrance & Hope: Ten Years after 9/11
Sunday, September 11, 3:45 PM - 7:00 PM
By Lucio Caruso

How many have had the experience of a progressive dinner? Usually a number of families, friends, or households all take responsibility for a portion of the meal. One might begin at a home where drinks and hors d’oeuvres are served with delightful conversation. Then everyone proceeds to another location where the main course is provided. After more conversation, and perhaps helping with clean-up, everyone embarks to a final destination to indulge in tasty desserts.
Our “Progressive Mission” will follow this same pattern with the addition of a progressive prayer service with our covenant churches of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and Anchorage Presbyterian Church.

To further build a sense of community among us we will be boarding one bus as we go to the different locations for the progressive food and prayer. Also, at each location during the meal, each church will be showing a presentation about their faith community that we are calling “Portraits in Mission”. The prayer for this mission will focus on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and how important our own unity of Christians is to bring healing, peace, and hope to a world divided and in fear. Violence and terrorism is with us every day. We will gather for “Remembrance” and ‘Hope”.
Travel Itinerary
- We will all assemble at the Epiphany parking lot at 3:45 PM and board the bus. Our first stop will be at St. Luke’s for hors d’oeuvres and the beginning of our prayer service.
- Our bus will then leave for Anchorage Presbyterian where the main course will be provided and the next part of our prayer.
- Following that the bus will return to Epiphany for the concluding prayer and renewal of our Covenant with our neighbor churches. And, of course, delectable desserts of all kinds will await our celebration of renewed unity. All will be concluded by 7:00 PM.
Consider joining us for this wonderful event. We promise you will be treated with great food, fellowship, fine preaching and the excellent music ministries of all the churches.
