“Life is a Cabaret” – An Epiphany Cabaret That Is!!!
By Rebecca Beyerle
Whenever someone asks members why they like Epiphany, parishioners always mention the wonderful music worship program. On June 3rd, we were treated to an enjoyable evening of singing, instrumentals, bells, and comical routines. The Cabaret is a venue for many of the Epiphany members to celebrate their musical talents outside of the liturgical arena.
The program was coordinated by Linda Thieneman, Cindy Simpson, and Tony Simpson. The show would not been complete without our entertaining Master of Ceremonies, Chuck Sgro. The program started out with “In the Mornin’ O My Lord” sung by the Adult Choir. This was followed by an emotional “The Story” and “I Dreamed a Dream”. The treat continued with a lively rendition of “Hey Good Lookin”. Our Bell Choir displayed their talents with two features. Not to be out done by great instrumentation, the audience “performed” the “Rockin’ Kneeler Medley” under the direction of Linda Thieneman. Was this a hint to lower the kneelers gently?
After the Parish Life Committee served refreshments, we were excited to see what the second half of the show had in store for us!
The music tradition at Epiphany is safe in the hands of our Praise Band and Youth Band. The multi-talented members of both groups entertained with the Beatles’ “Let It Be” and “The Lost Get Found”. The lovely ladies moved us with “One Voice” and “Don’t Forget I Love You”. Some believe the duo of the night was Rita Marvin (Ooh la la) singing “Hey Big Spender” to Tim Wahl AKAThe Money Man. The cabaret finale invited the spectators to join in the singing of “Love In Any Language”.
Even though I couldn’t mention every performer and stage hand, they were all great. The audience loved the show and was reminded of how lucky we are to have such talent at Epiphany. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!!
