Father Brian MassingaleBlack History Month reminds us of the continued challenge of Undoing Racism in our communities. A group from Epiphany will attend “Engaging Racism: Thomas Merton, the Church, and the Ongoing Quest for Justice”, the Fourth Annual Thomas Merton Black History Month Lecture at Bellarmine: February 22, 2010, 7:00 PM. Afterwards, time and energy allowing, we will gather for discussion at a nearby coffee shop. Please contact Sister Larraine if you are interested in attending and carpooling!

Speaker Father Bryan Massingale is a noted lecturer and commentator on issues of social and racial justice, having addressed numerous national Catholic conferences and gatherings, as well as many colleges and universities. He has served as a consultant to the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops, providing theological assistance on issues such as criminal justice, capital punishment, environmental justice, and affirmative action, and has authored numerous articles and books, including his newest book (about to be released) Racial Justice and the Catholic Church.
