Obituary for Lillian A. Buckel

Lillian A. Buckel, mother of parishioner Lou Buckel, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Good Samaritan Society in her 94th year.

She was the former Lillian Sorrell. She worked for Brown Forman and the University of Louisville as a secretary and was a member of Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert G. Sorrell and Emma K. Sorrell; two brothers, Arthur and Herbert Sorrell; and grandson, Steve Leras.

She is survived by her husband, Sylvester W. Buckel; sons, Bill Buckel (Mary), Louis Buckel (Patricia) and Alan Leras (Vickie); grandchildren, Michael Buckel, Larry Buckel and Dennis Buckel Larry Leras, Debbie Thompson, Cheri Ashford, Eddie Pinion, Tiffany Leras-Gaskin, Jennifer Workman; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Society and a special thanks to Sandra Callahan, her niece and caregiver.

Her funeral will be 11:00 AM Saturday (April 24, 2010) at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home, 2723 Preston Hwy., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-7 PM Friday.
