Compassionate Acts Revealed!
This is an act of compassion that was observed by a member of our community this Lent. Perhaps you have seen other such signs of compassion or been moved to act in a compassionate way this Lent. Let us pass on this sign of God’s life.
Almost 20 years ago, I was out of work due to no fault of my own and experienced for the first time the real crush of emotional and financial pressure being unemployed places on a person. Much like today, times were bad and jobs scarce. It took me quite a while to find employment at a level on par to my background and experience. Along the way ... I met a lot of people who reached out to help me ...and it changed my outlook in life.
Here at Epiphany, there is a group called Networking for Employment Transition set up and shepherded by community members with a lot of experience and wisdom to share. This NET group provides real help and support to the many in our spiritual and secular community needing assistance. Support in the form of job search assistance, professional advice and simple compassion. It is the compassion of parishioners that reached out and pulled the resources together to make it a reality, and their persistence that keeps the NET Group alive and well for those who come to need it. Compassion for others is clearly crystallized in this ministry to the under and unemployed.
