Hats off to Epiphany on our 38th Birthday!

It was Sunday, June 7, 2009.

The day was sunny and warm. Some might say “hot”.  Paper cupcakes with greetings from parishioners were posted in the gathering area.

Tents providing shade scattered the hillside in the “circular drive” and behind the community center where one could go to get their face painted or create a “box of love” to be given to our sick and homebound.

Many other activities were offered.

Most “notably” the original sign reading Church of the Epiphany  which hung over the gym back in the beginning days (early ‘70’s) hung over the entrance to the worship center. The sign was in excellent condition and moved strongly in the breeze.

The smell of brats, hot dogs and hamburgers filled the air.  The nursery was bubbling over with “judges” tasting pies and cakes.  Voices of young and old could be heard as plates were filled with food and community members gathered around tables of friends and newcomers. So many desserts were donated that we offered 2nd and 3rd helpings.

The highlight of the afternoon celebration was the dancing performances done by the Hispanic community.  Costumes were designed and sewn by Ana Lane.  The “little ones” small children stole the show!

The afternoon ended with many parishioners going outside to the Worship Center to take their “hats off to Epiphany”.
