Council Announces Action Plans
February 15, 2009
Having listened with open minds and hearts; having heard the desire for connectedness; and in keeping with the Epiphany Vision Statement, we, the Parish Pastoral Council, offer the Community of Epiphany the following action plans as we renew our continuing faith journey together:
Through these ever-changing times, we desire to connect more deeply with our God through relationships with one another and our world, in turn, creating a stronger faith within ourselves. While remaining committed to social responsibility, liturgical excellence, and our Roman Catholic faith; and recognizing that all our new efforts flow from the ongoing work and inspiration of the Holy Spirit already stirring among us in many worthwhile endeavors, we propose these five action steps to our community.
- Together we will develop and implement another parish face-to-face faith-sharing prayer experience to be called “United in Spirit” (US). US will include (but is not limited to) an Emmaus Walk experience – in response to our community’s desire to walk together and gather in small communities, to have opportunities for face-to-face faith sharing experiences and a focus on lay preaching, we shall implement prayer services led by our skilled laity on a regular basis.
- Together we will develop and implement a youth program to be called “Excellence in Art”. In response to our community’s strong stated desire to heighten our focus on the youth of the community, including, but not limited to, offering development in dance, music, and the fine arts so that our youth may take an enhanced role in liturgical and communal events.
- Together we will develop and implement a social awareness outreach program to be called “Border Crossing”. In response to the call for connection, we will give major focus to “border crossing” missions that enable us to cross the borders of our minds, hearts and personal experience. We will develop mission opportunities that enable us to build ongoing relationships in solidarity with the world beyond our parish and personal borders.
- Together in order to facilitate our consistent focus on shared, collaborative ministry, excellence in liturgy, and celebrating the Gospel of Christ, we could: Expand the existing Worship Center to the edge of the existing apron and, Enclose the gathering area between the Worship and Community centers. This will allow more people to worship and enhance our ability to gather and share between and after liturgies.
- Together in order to facilitate our ministry to each other, our youth, and our world, and to allow for additional programming as requested by the community, we will construct a new facility possibly behind Epiphany House for gathering, meetings, and storage.
