Susan, in Jay’s absence, called the meeting to order at 7:35 and led the opening prayer. The minutes of the February meeting were accepted as submitted.
GUEST: Mary Bratton
Mary Bratton put forth a proposal to have the parish plant a tree once a year as memorial to those church members who passed away the previous year. Discussion followed centered on the number of trees the property can support and other types of memorials that might also be considered. The suggestion will be passed on to the grounds committee for comment and returned to this committee for action.
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
Susan reported that Fr. Bill has appointed a committee consisting of four men and four women, tentatively called the Building Committee, charged with assessing the space needs of the parish.
FINANCE
Martha Stuber reviewed the financial statement for January 2002 including the January check reconciliation. There was a discussion about using email versus US mail to distribute committee reports and other documents as a means of saving postage.
GROUNDS
The only current grounds project involves planting a memorial tree behind Epiphany House ajoining the founder’s garden. To date the tree has not been planted.
FACILITIES MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING
Dick Kline reported that new carpet has been installed in the nursery. Rolls of plastic have been purchased to act as drop cloths when food is served in that space to protect the new carpet. Due to the hammering on the roof of Epiphany House due to the recent roof and gutter replacement, some loose paneling and cracked plaster has been discovered in the house. These items will be repaired.
SALARY & BENEFITS REVIEW COMMITTEE
Susan announced that the committee has completed its work and with Fr. bill’s blessing, the report will be sent on to the PPC. She briefly outlined the work done by the committee in comparing salaries at Epiphany against those of other churches and Arch diocesan guidelines.
BUDGET PLANNING FOR 2002-03
A very preliminary, informal list of capital expense items was solicited. Items mentioned were Chairs for the Youth Center, Carpet for the Community Center, Additional sidewalk, Possibility of paving the parking lot(s), HVAC replacement for the Community Center, New tables (light weight aluminum instead of the particle board) and additional gutter repairs for Epiphany House.
The meeting closed with a prayer. The next meeting is April 11th at 7:30.
